Internet Services

WI-FI

Free WiFi access is available throughout the terminal for all airport users courtesy of HIA.

Great for catching up on your latest business emails or chatting with friends online while you wait to board your flight, this complimentary service is easy to access.

To access the WiFi simply click on the wireless button or internet icon on your notebook and you're away.

Internet Kiosk

A complimentary internet kiosk is located on the mezzanine floor of the terminal for passengers and other airport visitors to utilize during their time at HIA.

As it's a popular service we ask that you please limit your session to 15 minutes for the courtesy of others.

Departure Fees

Domestic

A NZ$5 departure fee applies for each person over the age of 5 on domestic services out of HIA.
Payments can be made at the Paper Plus store on the ground floor or at the self service kiosks. For more information on the domestic departure levy please click here.

International

A NZ$25 departure fee applies for each person over the age of 12 on international services out of HIA. Payments can be made at ASB Bank or the self service kiosks located on the ground and mezzanine floors.

Notes:

  1. PAX seats is the number of passenger seats in the aircraft and MCTOW is the aircraft
  2. maximum certified take-off weight.
  3. The terminal charge applies to all landings involving scheduled and charter passenger flights.
  4. Aircraft under 1 tonne pay a flat landing charge of $11 + GST per landing.
  5. Aircraft between 1 and 3 tonnes will be charged a $3 fixed component plus a variable $7.54 per MCTOW tonne component and, if applicable, a $1.36 seat terminal component (e.g. for a 2.5 tonne scheduled 4 seat aircraft the charge equals 3 + 2.5*7.75 + 4*1.36 = $27.82).
  6. A $5 (including GST) development levy applies to domestic passengers (excluding all children under 5 years) departing from the terminal.
  7. A $25 (including GST) international departure fee applies to international passengers (excluding all children under 12 years) departing from the terminal.

Koru Lounge

The Air New Zealand Koru Lounge is located at the top of the escalator on the mezzanine floor of the Hamilton International Airport.

Open from 6.30am until the last departure the lounge offers newspapers and magazines, light refreshments, bar facilities and business desk services to Koru Club members.

Special Assistance

Ensuing the airport is accessible for people of all abilities is important to HIA.

Reserved car parks for passengers with vehicles displaying a disability card are located in the front row of southern parking bays of the public car park next to the pedestrian walkways and similar car parks are located directly outside the terminal for drop-offs and pick ups.

Inside the terminal, lift access is available between the ground and mezzanine floors and disabled toilet amenities are located on both levels.

Boarding calls are made throughout terminal building over the PA system (hearing loop) and arrival and departure information screens are located through out the terminal. Wheelchairs are available upon request. 

First Aid

The Airport Rescue Fire and Security team  are all trained in advanced first aid. A first aid room is located on the ground floor adjacent  the domestic baggage carousel.

If first aid assistance is required please let an HIA or airline staff member know and the Airport Rescue Fire and Security team will respond immediately. An ambulance will also be called if required.

Lost Property

Items that have been lost and found within the Airport terminal and car park are held for a period of time by our Rescue Fire and Security Officers who can be contacted on +64 0274 961 750.

For any personal items that were left on board an aircraft or any luggage lost or misplaced during a flight, or left on the baggage carousel, please contact the airline. Please see the Airlines Page for contact details .

Rescue Fire & Security

Hamilton International Airport has a team of 11 Rescue Fire and Security Officers based in the Rescue Fire Station onsite.

Rescue Fire and Security Officers are an integral part of the Airport Company. This department covers Airport emergency response, which includes fire fighting (aircraft and structural), advanced medical response and the safety and security of the airport environs and the terminal buildings.

Services

Rescue Fire & Security Officers are available to assist the public 24 hours. They regularly patrol the terminal building, grounds, car park and airside perimeter fences and also monitor apron safety. The officers play a key role assisting airlines and border agencies with both domestic and international flights.

The rescue fire team is fully qualified in fire rescue, emergency response and first aid. Members are NZQA FRISTO registered and train on a regular basis. They also conduct regular fire safety and maintenance inspections and provide training for airport tenants in fire evacuation and emergency response.

Equipment

The airport has three fire rescue appliances and one incident control vehicle which are backed up in an emergency by the Hamilton Fire Service. The fire fighting vehicles hold multi-media agents - AFFF foam, dry powder and water for fire fighting. There are also two large water supply tanks onsite.

Aviation Security (AVSEC)

Aviation Security is responsible for screening all hand luggage and passengers prior to departure on international flights.

Please see the section above on restricted items <link to Security Restrictions section in this page>. Items that are not permitted in your carry-on luggage will be confiscated.
 
The x-ray machines used do not harm exposed or unexposed film or data on computer disk. Passengers may however request hand inspection - this may require you to open your camera and/or remove your camera lens.
