Otorohanga
Long been known as the official Kiwi Town of New Zealand Otorohanga is the home to the country's famous Kiwi House and Native Bird Park.
Owned and operated by the non-profit organization Otorohanga Zoological Society, Inc., the Kiwi House is dedicated to the conservation of New Zealand's native wildlife through education, display and breeding programmes.
Visit one of New Zealand's premier aviaries and see the country's native birds first hand including the Kiwi.
Otorohanga is also renowned for its ‘Kiwiana town' status, proudly celebrating all the things that make a New Zealander a New Zealander - from our pavlovas to our jandals. Check out the displays dotted throughout the quaint township and experience a little bit of Kiwiana for yourself.
Located 15 minutes from Waitomo Caves Otorohanga is a great place to relax, have a bite to eat or just sit and observe the hive of activity in the main street.
