Spencer to step down as Airport Chair
April 5 2018
Waikato Regional Airport Ltd (WRAL) Chairman John Spencer has today announced his intention to step down from his position on the Board effective 4 October 2018.
The announcement is not unexpected and is a part of the gradual introduction of a new Director rotation policy introduced during 2017. The policy specifies that Directors are to be appointed for a fixed term of 3 years with no more than two consecutive terms to be served.
Spencer was appointed to the Board in December 2013. He is set to leave the Group, which includes the Airport company and wholly owned subsidiaries Hamilton & Waikato Tourism Ltd and Titanium Park Ltd, in a strong position following a solid financial performance during the 2017 financial year.
Recruitment for the replacement of a new Chairperson has commenced with the appointment of specialist recruitment firm Kerridge and Partners who will run an independent search process.
Shareholders are expected to vote to determine the final appointee at the WRAL AGM to be held on 4 October 2018.
