Where can I pick up or drop off passengers at Hamilton Airport?
For Hamilton Airport pick ups and drop-offs, use the designated area under the canopy directly in front of the terminal building.
PLEASE DO NOT park or wait in this area - it must be kept clear for safety and access reasons. It is available for immediate five-minute access only (see opposite).
Where can I get one hour FREE parking?
Hamilton Airport is proud to offer one hour FREE parking in both our car parks (Main Car Park (A) - and the Wait Zone - and Car Park (B).
Wait Zone in Main Car Park (A)
We’ve introduced a new FREE Wait Zone to make Hamilton Airport pick up and drop off activities smoother, safer and easier.
If you’re collecting someone and they’re not quite ready, head to the clearly marked Wait Zone in Main Car Park (A). Parking is FREE for up to one hour. Please leave mobility parks available for those who need them.
Once your passenger is ready, it’s just a short two-minute walk to the terminal.
Arrived early? Grab a quick coffee at Propeller Airport Café while you wait - just keep an eye on the one-hour free period.
Our new Wait Zone helps keep traffic flowing and improves safety at the kerbside. Look out for our new signage when you arrive! Thanks for helping us keep things moving and making arrivals and departures stress-free for everyone.
Further information ...
Vehicles left unattended in front of the terminal will very likely be towed. Trolleys are available in the terminal and in the car parks to transport baggage and can be returned to trolley bays in the car parks for your convenience.
A reminder: we have licence plate recognition (LPR) in our car parks - the arm will raise to allow you into the car park - you will not receive a ticket. As long as you leave within the hour, the arm will raise when you exit, without charge. If you stay longer than one hour, normal parking charges apply and can be paid at the Pay Station or at the exit gate.
Mobility permit holders - may stop briefly in front of the terminal for drop-off or pick-ups. If a permit holder is remaining with the vehicle, please display your permit. If you are assisting a permit holder who needs to keep their permit with them, please let our team know. Note also, we have an allocation for disabled/limited mobility parks in Main Car Park (A) nearest to the terminal.
Where can I get flight information?
Please visit our arrivals and departures page for scheduled arrival and departure times before you leave home. There are also flight information screens on the ground floor by the check-in area; by the domestic departure gate, in international arrivals and upstairs by the cafe. See maps here.
Propeller Airport Cafe
Propeller Airport Cafe is available on the mezzanine floor for barista-made coffees and freshly-made food while you wait. Just keep an eye on the time so you stay within your one hour limit!
We also have a cute little coffee cart on the ground floor called Cleared for Coffee if you're just after a coffee or beverage without heading upstairs.
Please note: if you are heading overseas or travelling on a domestic jet to Christchurch, you will be required to go through the screening process. To reduce wait times at Propeller Airport Cafe, please head through security once it opens. After you've cleared security you can then enjoy a coffee, beverage or food at our airside cafe, Jet Fuel Cafe.
Why are there no animals allowed at the airport?
Unless your dog is a certified service animal or your pet is travelling in a cage, we kindly ask that you leave your furry friends at home.
Unauthorised animals can not only make some people uncomfortable, they can distract working service dogs, including those supporting our customs and security teams.
Thanks for helping us keep things running smoothly.
Changes are coming to our Pick-up/Drop-off area
As Hamilton Airport continues to grow, we’re making changes to help keep our Pick-Up and Drop-Off area safe, efficient and moving freely.
The Pick-Up and Drop-Off area is limited to five minutes. Parking enforcement will commence soon, with fines issued where required.
If you need additional time, please use Car Park (A), where the first hour of parking is FREE.
Thank you for keeping the terminal forecourt safe and efficient for all.
