Yes. Hamilton Airport offers convenient on-site parking directly outside the terminal.

We have two car parks: Main Car Park (A) is just a short walk from check-in, while Car Park (B) - also a short walk - offers additional parking options for longer stays.

Can I park at Hamilton Airport without booking online?

Yes. You can drive up and park at Hamilton Airport without making a booking.

For the best rates though, booking online in advance is recommended.

Is there free parking at Hamilton Airport?

Yes. Drivers can use the Wait Zone in Main Car Park (A) at Hamilton Airport for up to one hour free when picking up or dropping off passengers.  There is no designated area within Car Park (A) - just park there for one hour free.

How much does parking cost at Hamilton Airport?

Where do I pick up or drop off passengers at Hamilton Airport?

Passengers can be picked up or dropped off outside the terminal at Hamilton Airport.  This is for one-minute pick-ups/drop-offs only - do not wait.

For waiting, drivers should use the designated Wait Zone in Main Car Park (A), which provides free parking for up to one hour.  More information here.

How do I pay for parking at Hamilton Airport?

Hamilton Airport uses a ticketless parking system.

You can pay at the pay station outside the terminal, via QR code, or at the exit barrier using EFTPOS or credit card.  You can find more information here.

Is Hamilton a good airport for visiting the Central North Island?

Yes. Hamilton Airport is a convenient gateway to the Central North Island, with many of New Zealand's best-known visitor experiences within easy driving distance. Hobbiton Movie Set is around 45 minutes away, Waitomo Glowworm Caves around one hour, Rotorua around 1.5 hours, Taupō around 2 hours and Mt Ruapehu around 3 hours.  Explore the Central North Island from Hamilton Airport.

Hamilton Airport: terminal & facilities questions

Does Hamilton Airport have food and coffee options?

Yes. The terminal includes two cafés (Propeller Airport Cafe - landside - and JetFuel Cafe - airside).  We also have a coffee cart - Cleared for Coffee.  Snacks and refreshment options for travellers and visitors are available at our small retail stand upstairs by Propeller Airport Cafe and vending machines can be found on the ground floor of the terminal and in the international area.

Opening hours may vary depending on flight schedules.

Is there a hotel at Hamilton Airport?

Yes.  JetPark Hotel Hamilton Airport is located directly across the car park from the terminal, making it a handy option for early flights, late arrivals or business travel.

Are rental cars available at Hamilton Airport?

Yes. Rental car providers operate from Hamilton Airport, with vehicles available for collection near the terminal.

Are international flights available from Hamilton Airport?

Yes. Jetstar operates direct international flights from Hamilton Airport to Sydney (SYD) and Gold Coast (OOL), Australia.  Check current international flights and schedules. 

What documents do I need for international travel to Australia?

New Zealand citizens travelling to Australia need a valid passport. Entry and visa requirements can vary depending on your citizenship and circumstances, so check current Australian Government requirements before travelling.

Will I need a Visa?
Visas are not required for New Zealand citizens to enter Australia for  business or leisure.  Please ensure you have checked the requirements for onward destinations as some may require a longer passport duration or a Visa.   

Is duty-free shopping available at Hamilton Airport?

Yes. Duty-free shopping is available for eligible international passengers departing Hamilton Airport. 

You can shop in-store if you are flying out of Hamilton Airport.  There is no store on arrival, however you can still shop via Click & Collect - click to visit the online store.

Hamilton Airport is accessible by car, taxi, rideshare and private shuttle services.

The airport is located approximately 15 minutes from Hamilton city.

Is public transport available to Hamilton Airport?

Currently no public transport option is available.  Public transport services are planned and funded by council as part of their wider public transport network. We are working with council to support options for improved connectivity.

Are taxis, Uber and shuttles available at Hamilton Airport?

Yes. Taxis, Uber and private shuttle services operate to and from Hamilton Airport. Pick-up areas are located close to the terminal. Some shuttle services need to be booked in advance.

Hamilton Airport supports the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower to help travellers with non-visible disabilities feel recognised and supported while travelling.

Passengers can wear a Sunflower lanyard to discreetly indicate they may need additional assistance.
