eDNA Community Project

One of the environmental projects the NZ National Fieldays Society has been working on with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is a Community eDNA project.

Two of our team recently attended a morning at Mystery Creek where we learned about eDNA (environmental DNA) and the work that is going on around our local waterways in this regard.  We learned how samples are taken and even had a go at taking one ourselves. The official samples that were taken that day will be analysed by Wilderlab for testing and the results will be displayed at this years Fieldays in the new Sustainability Hub as an education piece.

You can find out about other community eDNA projects and what it’s all about, from the EPA’s website -
